The Newfoundland Historical Society, founded in 1905, is the oldest non-profit, independent heritage organization in the province.

 

Its mandate is to promote knowledge and public discussion of the history and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador, which it does through free public lectures, publications, public symposia, heritage awards, and advocacy work.
