Please join us online as Tshaukuesh Elizabeth Penashue & Elizabeth Yeoman speak about their books, Nitinikiau Innusi: I Keep the Land Alive and Exactly What I Said: Translating Words and Worlds, and their experiences working together.
Tshaukuesh was a leader of the Innu campaign against NATO low level flying and weapons-testing on Innu land in the 1980s and 90s. Nitinikiau Innusi is a translation of her diaries from that time to 2016. She will focus on her continuing work protecting Innu land and culture.
Elizabeth is a retired Professor of Education at Memorial University. She will focus on what she learned from her experience working with Tshaukuesh and will discuss themes from her book, including mapping, walking, and photography as aspects of translation.
