The NLHS was honoured to be chosen as a recipient of the inaugural Premier’s Heritage Medal, the “highest honour of recognition for the heritage sector in our province”. We were acknowledged by Premier Dr. Andrew Furey during a ceremony at the Colonial Building on December 9, 2024, for our “invaluable contribution to heritage practices and preservation of Newfoundland and Labrador traditions through [our] time, skills and dedication.” We would like to thank Dr. Jeff Webb for submitting the nomination and John Joy for his contribution to the nomination. We thank our members, as well, for your support of the work which led to this award. Rebecca Ralph, NLHS Vice-President, and Joan Ritcey, former President and long-time Board member accepted the medal on behalf of the NLHS.
